SHAH ALAM - Dr Maszlee Malik said he will be back in Parliament, next week to discuss public issues, especially on education.

Although he has lost the Layang-Layang state seat in the Johor state election on Saturday, he said he was still the Simpang Renggam MP.

With the unexpected low voter turnout, Maszlee said he accepted the people's choice with an open heart.

"I would like to thank everyone who voted and supported me especially voters from the Layang-Layang state constituency" he said.

He urged people to create awareness for the youths so that they will have knowledge on elections and to encourage them to join the voting process so that in future they will step out and choose (who to vote for).

He also promised to bring up public issues to the state government and in Parliament.

"I accept the results with an open heart. I am still an MP and I remain committed to provide the best service for the community.

"I will return to Parliament next week to discuss public issues especially on education, and be the representative for educators and students," he said.
