Rafizi returns to politics, confirms contesting for PKR's number 2 post

He also confirmed that he will be contesting the number 2 post that was left vacant after Datuk Sri Azmin Ali's sacking from the party after the 2020 Sheraton Move, which led to the Pakatan Harapan government’s collapse in 2020.
Rafizi had on Dec 10, 2019 announced his exit from politics to concentrate on his start-up project, saying he was at a stage in life where he “needs to learn”.
This comes as PKR has been losing it's charm among voters and was wiped out in Melaka polls. It only won one seat in Bukit Batu in Johor, out of the 20 seats it contested.
The announcement comes after increasing calls from PKR, PH and the public for Rafizi to come back to politics.
“I took a long time to decide because I was not sure of my decision,” he said.
However, the results from the Johor polls has made him realise that PKR and PH were being rejected by the rakyat.
"I have been a member of PKR since 1999 and I believe that the future of Malaysia is in the hands of a progressive, and multi-racial society." “My contribution in establishing Pakatan Harapan coalition in 2015 was not solely for the election, I was determined to ensure progressive politics could be defended," he said.
He said going by the latest developments, "multi-racial progressive politics is in jeopardy if PKR and PH are sidelined,” he said, referring to the internal fights between Umno, Bersatu and PAS.
To win back the hearts of the people, he said PKR should ease the burden faced by the rakyat, and not just "point fingers, but look for sensible solutions."
Rafizi's personality will bring back the shine Malaysia needs.

"I am one of the few friends who have interacted and communicated with him since he became inactive in politics," he said adding that Rafizi has been communicating with the rakyat and understands the suffering of ordinary folks.
Manivanan said Rafizi's campaign strategy was instrumental in toppling the BN regime in 2018. "People need him the most now to fight for issues faced by the rakyat."
