KUALA LUMPUR - Youths will be at the forefront for Umno and Barisan Nasional’s (BN) 15th General Election (GE15) campaign.

BN election director Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan said this was to ensure that the party remains relevant and appeals to the younger generation.

Confident that Umno would win back the hearts of the Malay community, he admitted that one of his major concerns was how the party viewed by millennials.

“They have no sentimental attachment to Umno and they want to know what we can offer them.

“This is why Umno must have a constructive new mission, a common agenda for a common future,” he said during a press conference at the Umno Annual General Assembly tonight after launching the Wanita, Youth and Puteri’s wings

The Umno Deputy President said that in order to win, the party must change. Often dubbed as a party filled with “dinosaurs”, he stated that a huge setback for Umno would be not using their own youth members to attract young voters.

He reminded media members present at the press conference that younger personalities did represent Umno, which was proof that the party was indeed working towards changing its image.

“As the election director, my job is to strategise. Why wait for our enemies to regroup and work together when we can strike while the iron is hot?” he commented.
