SHAH ALAM - Actor Zul Ariffin is being investigated for posting a clip containing "steamy scenes" from a yet-to-be aired drama he starred in.

Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa in a tweet said the investigation against the 36-year old actor was carried out under Section 233 of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Act (CMA) 1998 for uploading offensive content on social media.

He said the legal process over the matter was ongoing.

Annuar said the clip that was uploaded on the actor's Instagram account which had went viral was not allowed for public viewing.

"What is certain is that the scene which was displayed is not allowed for viewing whether during Ramadhan or any other months. Please preserve our value and culture," he said on Twitter.

Recently, Zul Ariffin uploaded a teaser containing “steamy scenes” from his upcoming drama titled 'Perempuan Itu’.

The clip which sparked controversy has drawn the ire of netizens who described it as “disgusting” and “too steamy”.

Following the backlash, Zul Ariffin removed the video from his Instagram account.
