Did you know that an average mileage of running shoes is about 644 kilometres?

Once it “retires” the next option would be to throw them out, but Running Lab Malaysia and Soles4Souls is providing another alternative for Malaysians, to put those shoes away to good use.

They launched a shoe-donation drive called Project Love Sneakers which aims to recycle worn out running shoes that are still in good condition, all for a good cause.

In developing countries, such as Honduras, Haiti and even Transnistria, donated shoes can be turned into business opportunities, where it helps people to launch their own businesses by selling donated shoes.

From April 1, you can drop off your running shoes at any Running Labs outlet. The shoe donation drive will end on April 30.

Ensure that your shoes meet these requirements when you send them off to Running Lab.

Firstly, they must be clean and in re-usable condition, all parts must be intact, there should be no holes on the outsole or upper of the shoe and the outsole should not be fully worn out.

In addition to running shoes, lifestyle shoes and children’s shoes are accepted too, while canvas shoes are not.

Best part is, Running Lab will reward you a RM150 voucher for every pair you donate.

Project Love Sneaker has gathered a lot of supporters and attention since it was launched back in 2010 in Singapore.

The outlets available for the donation drop off are located at Pavillion Kuala Lumpur and The Garden Malls.
