Covid-19: Positive cases falls to 16k mark, 37 new fatalities

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia records 16,863 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, a much lower register compared to 20,923 cases a day prior.

The majority of cases are still being recorded within the Klang Valley with 10,701 cases registered in the last 24 hours alone.

This is followed by Penang of 990 cases and Johor of 744 cases, to name a few.

Currently, there are 233,179 active cases with total cumulative cases now at 4,104,621.

Of the total current active cases, 226,656 or 97.2 per cent are home quarantined while 1,032 others are being treated at low-risk quarantine centres.

In terms of hospitalisation, 5,192 people are being treated at public healthcare facilities, of which 299 are cared for in intensive care units.

Of that number 187 requires ventilator support.

The nation also recorded records another 37 deaths related to Covid-19 including six brought-in-dead cases.

This makes the cumulative death cases at 34,751 since the pandemic began.
