PKR election: Afdlin Shauki guns Setiawangsa, Hans Isaac, Altimet to contest in Ampang

KUALA LUMPUR: Three celebrities - Datuk Afdlin Shauki, Hans Isaac and Altimet will be contesting in the PKR's on-going party elections.

Actor, producer and director Datuk Afdlin Shauki has confirmed that he will be going for Setiawangsa Branch Chief post. He will be going against incumbent Setiawangsa MP Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Afdlin who joined PKR a year ago said his decision to run for the post Setiawangsa branch was to strengthen the party's relationship within the community as he been living in the area for two decades.

“Setiawangsa has been my home for the past 20 years and PKR supporters told me to take part in the contest.

"Supporters hope that I could help strengthen the party's relationship with the community, to rejuvenate the party to the run-up to the 15th General Election (GE15)," Afdlin said.

The other two celebrities who will be taking part in PKR poll held next month are Datuk Hans Isaac and rapper Altimet.

It is understood that Hans Isaac and Altimet will be contesting at the Ampang branch. According to sources, both have submitted their applications to contest against incumbent Cabinet Minister Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, who left the party for Bersatu in February 2020.

Hans has been contacted through WhatsApp messaging system for comments. While Altimet whose real name is Syed Ahmad Syed Abdul Rahman has not responded. - Astro Awani
