KUALA LUMPUR - The function of the check-in feature in the MySejahtera application is still relevant to help the Health Ministry prevent the spread of Covid-19.

Its minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar said when the Omicron variant infections reached a peak recently, 45 per cent of casual contacts were Covid-19 positive.

"I do not think it is irrelevant because MySejahtera still has its value as a tool to track contacts," he told in a press conference at the Parliament on Thursday.

However, he said, the ministry will make a decision on the need for the check-in feature to enter premises in two weeks time since the country has passed the peak of Omicron infections.

The MySejahtera check-in feature is still mandatory even though the country has entered the transition phase to endemic from April 1, except for outdoor areas such as public parks.

The National Rehabilitation Council (MPN) previously said it was up to the ministry to consider the need to use the check-in function at premises.
