Muda to launch political education school to spur democratic awareness among youths.

SHAH ALAM - To advocate for better political education among Malaysians, Muda will be launching "Sekolah Muda".

Muda vice president and co-founder of Buku Jalanan Chow Kit Siti Rahayu Baharin said this school is applicable for citizens between the age of 18 to 45 years old.

"We will run the school like a simulation of how democracy work. The content will be on how a citizen should be heavily involved in the democratic process."

"Sekolah Muda is very important for us to instil confidence in people to involve in the democratic path.

"This is because elections and voting affect people's livelihood," she said to Sinar Daily.

The school is a platform for youths as Muda wants to provide political education to people so they have the right knowledge to decide what is democratically best for them.

Rahayu also added that they are working on the ground by travelling to every state in Malaysia to introduce Muda, a party that was properly registered in December last year.

The party has its debut in the political arena by contesting in the recent Johor state election where they had won one state seat out of seven that they contested.

The state seat of Puteri Wangsa was won by Muda secretary-general Amira Aisya Abd Aziz with a 7,114 majority vote.
