PETALING JAYA - PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said rural Malay voters are still wary of DAP but his party remains committed to cooperating with DAP under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) banner as they share the same principles.

“I once expressed my opinion to DAP (and they) also tried their best to convince Malays in rural areas to disregard the distrust they feel towards DAP.

"Even their support for me is deteriorating.

"Some have asked me if I could sever the relationship. That's why we have to explain to them why we are continuing to fight the good fight with DAP, ”he said in an interview with Sinar Harian, Malaysiakini and The Vibes.

To address the issue, his party took the time to discuss the matter openly in order to get the public to understand the principles of PKR, which include curbing corruption.

“Non-Malays, especially the Chinese, are supporters of DAP. So, if we want this country to be safe, united, and prosperous, we have to accept the fact that we must work together so that we may get the support of the rakyat," he said.

DAP had recently said that Anwar remains PH's choice as prime minister candidate for GE15.
