SHAH ALAM - Well-known music producer Roslan Aziz, who is currently battling stage four lymphoma cancer, was told by doctors that he would only have six months to live.

In an interview with Awani, Roslan, who was diagnosed with cancer last November said that the coming month of June would be the sixth month since the diagnosis.

He had never expected that the cancer would advance so quickly to stage four.

“Of course I was devastated when doctors broke the news of my diagnosis but I am thankful that my condition isn’t worse than it is,” he said.

When the media paid a visit to the 60-year-old’s house in Kampung Datuk Keramat, Roslan was in good spirits, so much so that it didn’t seem like he was battling with the big C.

But in reality, he was reeling in pain from the cancer treatments, in addition to the handful of medications he had been prescribed to take everyday.

“I know that I will eventually die, so I need to prepare for that. I won’t be able to see my wife and kids anymore,” he said.

Roslan who has been married to Sopphilea Hamid for the past 23 years, described his wife as not only his life partner but his best friend whom he has never been apart from since they tied the knot.

In spite of fighting his biggest battle in life, Roslan remained positive and accepts his fate.

“I’m thankful to still have friends and family who care deeply about me.

“If anything, cancer has taught me that having friends and family around is incredibly important.

“Even my 83-year-old father is still here, living with me,” he said.

On Nov 1 last year, Roslan complained of severe stomache pain which led him to see the doctor.

Given his weak condition at the time, he was advised to go for further medical examinations which included more blood tests and an MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) test as well.

The tests had later revealed his cancer diagnosis.

Roslan’s illustrious career involved building his record label called R.A.P, Roslan Aziz Production which generated interests from countries abroad.

He was also the man behind iconic Malaysian artists such as Datuk Sheila Majid, Zainal Abidin to name a few.
