SHAH ALAM - A foreign student sustained injuries after being assaulted with a stick by two men on a motorbike around 8pm at Dutamas, Kuala Lumpur, last night.

In an Instagram post, the 26-year-old woman claimed that she first noticed the two men when they catcalled her and a friend, but they ignored the men, which may have angered the perpetrators and led to the attack.

“Tonight (Thursday) at about 8pm, I was walking to Publika with my friend when we got catcalled by two men on a motorbike. We ignored them, but then they made a turn and came from behind us once more (against the traffic).

“Realising this, we head towards the main road but so did they. Realising that they could easily attack us from a close proximity, we ran back down near a school and that’s when one of the men (wearing white) quickly jumped off his bike, picked something up from the ground and ran to attack us with a stick,” she wrote on Instagram.

The woman said her friend managed to escape, but she did not. The assaulter slipped and fell as he took a swing at her with the stick and the woman took the opportunity to beat him while he was on the ground. The man bit her arm and his friend jumped off the bike to attack her.

“I tried to run (from the scene), but I wasn’t fast enough and felt one of them hit me on my back with the stick,” she added.

In her posting, she said they managed to survive the night with the help of a security guard at a nearby school and the two men escaped the scene not long after the girls entered the school’s compound.
