Segambut, Hartamas, Brickfields among areas hit after heavy KL downpour

SHAH ALAM - Heavy downpour this afternoon has triggered flash floods in several parts of Segambut.

This comes as the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a warning over bad weather today, with thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds expected to hit several states until 8pm today.

MetMalaysia has also alerted residents in Perlis, Kedah, Pulau Pinang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor to be wary over heavy rain.

In a statement issued at 4pm today, MetMalaysia warned that thunderstorms in Perlis, Kedah (Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Padang Terap, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim, and Bandar Baharu), Perak (Larut, Matang, Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), Kelantan (Kuala Krai), Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Bentong, and Rompin), and Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, Hulu Langat, and Sepang).

Thunderstorms are also expected in Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, and Johor.

Meanwhile, Sabah and Sarawak are not spared.

In Sabah, residents in Pedalaman, Pantai Barat, Tawau, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran, and Kota Belud are told to on guard.

In Sarawak, Kuching, Samarahan, Sri Aman, Betong, sarikei, Mukah, Kapit, and Bintulu were also expected to experience thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds
