Teen found dead in car in Kota Bharu

KOTA BHARU - An 18-year old teenager was found dead in a Proton Satria car parked in front of a furniture store in Ketereh here on Tuesday.

Kota Bharu district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Rosdi Daud said police received information regarding the incident at about 10.05am.

"Preliminary investigations at the scene found that the victim was unconscious," he told Sinar Harian on Tuesday.

He said the victim was found in the driver's seat lying down with the seat lowered.

He said the victim was found fully dressed and there were no signs of a break-in.

Mohd Rosdi said initial investigations revealed that during the incident, the car was not locked and the victim's belongings were next to him.

"Examination on the victim’s body found no traces of wounds or any element of criminal activity.

"The body was then taken to the forensic unit at Raja Perempuan Zainab II Hospital (HRPZ II) for autopsy.

"The results of the autopsy found that the victim's death was due to bleeding in the lungs which was suspected to be the result of inhaling gas in the car," he said.

He said members of the public who have more information on the incident could contact the Ketereh police station.
