KUALA LUMPUR - The World #QuranHour programme is a continuation of the My #QuranTime daily programme which is broadcasted live on TV AlHijrah.

TV AlHijrah chief executive officer Namanzee Harris said the existence of the Quran recitation programme that has been broadcasted since the Movement Control Order (MCO) three years ago was inspired by the current situation at that time.

“The history of My #QuranTime began after seeing public concerns over the current situation (the Covid-19 outbreak) and the best way to overcome this situation is by upholding the Quran.

“We produced the programme every day by pondering over the meaning of the verses of the Quran (tadabbur) and believing in the Quran together slowly.

"The method to understand the Quran is in an orderly manner so that the understanding of it is clear and can be conveyed well," he said at a press conference after the World #QuranHour programme at the TV AlHijrah Studio, here, on Tuesday.

In the meantime, Namanzee explained that the concept of the My #QuranTime programme was also applied to the annual World #QuranHour programme which involved six qaris (reciters) who recited surah Al-Sajdah and three people for the tadabbur session.

"The recitation and taddabur of surah Al-Sajdah presented today is described as a recitation of the Quran which is not just a recitation, but understanding its contents so that Muslims can learn something from it," he said.
