Sometimes, us humans need a gentle reminder that we are all alike.

This, is the message and theme behind the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day (WRCD).

With its tagline “We Are All Humankind”, it falls back on encouraging others to be kind and compassionate towards others as little acts of kindness can go a long way in giving hope to hose in dire need of help, especially in times of distress and uncertainty.

Every year on May 8, the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) joins its international counterparts to celebrate WRCD.

The annual event typically sees a line-up of activities to highlight the unique role of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in their respective countries.

This year on our shores, there will be a parade and an award ceremony held at the National Headquarters to honour MRCS members and volunteers who have been working tirelessly to support communities amid the trying times.

To show support for the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2022 (WRCD2022), MRCS calls on all Malaysians from now until May 5, 2022 to participate in their social media campaign called “Snap your act of kindness #BeHumankindMalaysia”.

The campaign is an initiative to invite the public to do good deeds for the community. Participants also stand to win some “Duit Raya”! The entry is free for all. Ten winning entries which will announced on May 8, and winners will walk away with cash prizes in addition to getting their entries featured on the MRCS website as well social media platforms.

The guidelines of the entry are as follows:

1. Simply snap a photo showing your act of kindness for someone you have helped recently

2. Take a selfie with that someone you have helped with a gesture of kindness symbol, as shown in this photo link, and add #BeHumankindMalaysia to your caption.

3. Tag MRCS and don’t forget to include a #BeHumankindMalaysia in your snapshots, posted side-by-side on your Instagram and Facebook pages.
