SHAH ALAM - Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has advised students against bullying after a video of a Form Four student being assaulted by his schoolmates surfaced on the internet.

In a Facebook posting, the Langkawi MP who was saddened by the incident that happened in his constituency said the act was not something to be proud of.

“I am sad when I read the news about the bullying case at a school in Langkawi. Bullying leads to gangsterism and it has now become a police case.

“I hope that all the students involved come to their senses and remember that bullying is not something anyone should be proud of,” the former prime minister wrote.

The 25-second video of a group of students bullying a schoolmate in a classroom went viral on social media.

In the video, the alleged bullies were seen throwing punches as well as tables to the victim.

Thirteen Form Four students in connection to the assault were arrested yesterday (Thursday) and they had been released on bail, today.

It was reported that incident was said to have been due to a misunderstanding among the students.

The case is currently being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code.
