Weatherman warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain in 10 states

SHAH ALAM - Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) has issued a bad weather alert today as thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to hit several states till 8pm today.

Perlis, Kedah, Penang, Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor, Sarawak and Sabah has been advised to be on high alert.

It stated that thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds were expected in:

* Perlis

* Kedah (Langkawi, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu), Penang, Perak (Kerian, Larut, Matang and Selama, Hulu Perak, Kuala Kangsar, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Batang Padang and Muallim), and Kelantan (Jeli, Machang, Pasir Puteh, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang).

* Terengganu (Besut, Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Hulu Terengganu, Kuala Terengganu, Marang and Dungun)

* Pahang (Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin) and Johor (Segamat, Kluang, Mersing, Kulai and Kota Tinggi).

* Sarawak (Kuching, Sibu, Bintulu, Tatau and Sebauh)

* Sabah (Ranau, Tawau, Kunak and Lahad Datu).
