KUALA TERENGGANU - Batu Kawan MP Kasthuri Patto tied the knot with her soulmate Alain Morvan on Friday.

She had first shared the news of her engagement by sharing a photo of her and Morvan, revealing that she had said yes to her beau.

On Saturday, Kasthuri shared photos of herself and her newly wedded husband dressed in traditional clothing at the National Registration Department in Putrajaya.

“From being engaged to legally married in Putrajaya,” the local lawmaker posted on her Facebook account.

In the posting, she also expressed her feeling toward Morvan and how she was lucky to have him share her life with.

Many people wished Kasthuri and her husband a good married life and sent them blessings on Facebook.

The couple had exchanged vows before a registrar at 11am on Friday in a ceremony observed by her mother, Mary Patto, 73, sister Shaalini, 41, and other family members.

A total of 30 guests attended the ceremony, including Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh, DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang and France ambassador to Malaysia, Roland Galharague.

Kasthuri told a news portal that she first met Morvan, 51, at the European Parliament in Belgium in February 2019 during an anti-death penalty congress.

The regular meet-up led them to discover that they had similar ideas, which strengthened their bond.

Kasthuri said Morvan was an anti-death penalty supporter as well as a journalists’ rights activist after 25 years of working as a reporter.

Though Morvan was living in France, she said he had been visiting her regularly here and she also flew to France whenever possible.

Kasthuri also mentioned a church wedding was scheduled for later this year.
