KOTA KINABALU - Pejuang has yet to decide on cooperation with other political parties ahead of the 15th general election (GE15).

Its president Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir said as of now, the party was still in the midst of discussing the matter and has not even reached the negotiation phase yet.

"I supposed that everyone understands that there are several ways that this could happen. One of them being to form a coalition of parties like in GE14 or forming a political alliance to reduce redundancy during the election.

"So these two approaches have not been decided yet," he said during a press conference after attending the Pejuang Sabah settlement programme, here, today.

He said this when asked about the update on the possible cooperation with other parties ahead of GE15 especially in Sabah.

Commenting further, Mukhriz who is also Jerlun MP emphasised that whoever they want to work with must share similar principles as Pejuang.

"That is the most important thing for us. If we have different principles, it would be a factor that we would consider in coming up with our decision.

“We are open to discussions with bigger parties affiliated with the government as well as the smaller ones who have not even contested in any election,” he said.

Meanwhile, asked whether he was eyeing on any seats for the upcoming election, Mukhriz said it was still being discussed at the party level.

“For now, not only in Sabah but also in other parts of the country we have to go through a thorough process on the total seats to contest in, where and what are our strengths in the the constituencies before making any announcements.

“Like other parties, I think among the most important criteria are the number of members, how many are trained to face the election, whether we have a figure we can nominate and the probability for our win there. So these are the things which will be considered, "he said.
