KUALA LUMPUR - The national football arena was shaken with the latest announcement from Johor Darul Takzim (JDT) Football Club owner Tunku Ismail Sultan Ibrahim (TMJ), who said that he would take a step back from the team.

Astro Awani reported that TMJ had issued a statement of him stepping down due to his responsibilities and other commitments via a status uploaded on the official Facebook and Twitter accounts of the Johor Southern Tigers.

He said that he had handed over the day-to-day affairs of JDT Football Club to the top management of the club.

“I wish the club and everyone all the best,” he added, in the same Facebook post which was uploaded around 3.15pm.

In less than 30 minutes of the status being uploaded it had received nearly 4,000 responses from Facebook with almost 300 comments recorded.

However, Tunku Ismail's official Facebook, Twitter and Instagram did not share the statement as of 3.30pm.
