Ambulance rams into four cows while transporting patient

KOTA BELUD - Four cows died after being rammed by an ambulance that was transporting a patient at Jalan Kota Belud-Kota Marudu, here, today.

In the 4am incident, the ambulance driver and four passengers were reported to be safe.

District police chief Superintendent Shahrudin Mat Husain said investigations revealed that the ambulance was attached to Kudat Hospital.

At the time of the incident, it was transporting a passenger to a hospital in Kota Kinabalu.

"While driving in the straight route, a herd of cows came running to cross the road and since the distance was too close, the ambulance driver couldn't avoid the cows in time and rammed into them," he said when contacted by Sinar Harian.

"The four cows were dead and so far, nobody has claimed ownership of the animals.

"In the incident, the driver and its passengers comprising of a doctor, a nurse, along with the patient and a family member were reported to be safe and didn't suffer any injuries," he said.

He said the case will be investigated under Regulation 10 of the Road Traffic Methods 1959 (Regulation 10 LN 166/59).
