PENAMPANG - A teenager who was believed to have drowned, was found dead in the Kampung Pagansakan river, here, on Sunday.

The body of Harold Walter, 17, was found at about 2.45pm about three kilometres away from where he was reported to have drowned in Kampung Timpangoh.

Penampang fire station chief Zeno Tingalan said one of the victims was found during the search and rescue operation that has entered its second day.

He said a total of six personnel from the Penampang fire station, several personnel from other agencies as well as the villagers were involved in the operation.

"The first victim was found by the public by the river, which is three kilometres away from the location where the victim was reported to have drowned and was confirmed dead by the police.

"The search for the second victim, Tomansi Olaf, 17, is still being carried out along the river using the 'surface' method via boats," he said in a statement on Sunday.

He added that the details on the search and rescue operation of the second victim will be updated from time to time.

On Sunday, Sinar Harian reported that two teenagers were believed to have drowned while four others were safe while bathing in the river on Saturday.
