Cradle fund murder trial: Scuffle breaks out between lawyer, photographer

Samirah, 47, one of the accused in the Cradle Fund chief executive officer Nazrin Hassan murder trial arrived at the court at 9.05 am with her lawyers.
The incident occurred in the court lobby when lawyer S. Suresh was obstructed from getting into the courtroom by photographers on duty.
An argument broke out between one of the photographers and the lawyer and the two started pushing each other which resulted in the lawyer sustaining minor injuries to his head.
Before the proceedings, lawyer Tan Sri Muhammad Shafee Abdullah, who was also representing Samirah, had requested that the defence be provided with a police escort when leaving the courtroom.
However, High Court Judge Datuk Ab Karim Ab Rahman said this was beyond his jurisdiction.
When met outside the court, Suresh told the media: "I'm not ok (about the injury). I will think about it (making a police report about the incident)".
It was understood that the photographer had lodged a police report on the incident.
In a press conference, Muhammad Shafee said during the incident, Suresh was hit in the head with a a photographer's camera.
"It was either done on purpose or accidentally, Clearly there are two cuts, but luckily he's okay. I had asked for police escort earlier on so that this sort of thing will not happen," he said.
Earlier, the High Court acquitted and discharged Samirah and two teenagers of the charge of murdering Cradle Fund chief executive officer (CEO) Nazrin Hassan four years ago.
Judge Ab Karim made the decision after finding that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case at the end of the prosecution case against the trio. - BERNAMA
