KUALA LUMPUR – A strong support system with people with similar experiences and sharing stories on a social media platform was a life saviour of her divorce journey, said an entrepreneur.

Chiq Ruslan said by being able to express herself on social media by conveying her divorce stories had stopped her from dwelling in the past and made her feel less alone.

"I felt alone for some time until I met a friend and she was going through the same process as mine and we bonded.

"I told her that I wanted to bring my story into social media, so I did a Tik Tok series sharing about my divorce.

The response was amazing, I connected with individuals who were going through divorce issues," she said.

Chiq also said she received many comfort words like 'just move on' and 'get over it' every day, but moving on was not easy.

"Being a divorcee, I get a lot of 'move on' and 'get over it' words till today.

"It's kind of irritating because they are not in my shoe and none of the people in my surroundings are divorcees," she said, adding that it was especially terrible that her former husband ended up marrying her own cousin.
