Mosti, Tegas ink MoU to increase startups involvement in Sarawak

KUCHING - The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) through Cradle Fund Sdn Bhd today entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with "Tabung Ekonomi Gagasan Anak Sarawak" (Tegas) to further widen the MYStartup initiative and increase the involvement of startups in Sarawak.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said Tegas would become the representative for this initiative with Cradle Fund supporting the startup ecosystem development programme that are organised in the state.

"We will ensure the capabilities of these startups would be advanced to the international level. I will make sure that in exploring talents as well as human capital, opportunities are also given to Sarawak citizens to increase skills in deep tech and futureskills under Cradle Fund," he said after launching MYStartup Eastern Region Roadshow at the Tegas Digital Village today.

He said the Upskilling for Deep Tech and Futureskills programme was aimed at assisting Malaysians increase their existing skillsets based on industry needs in science and technology field such as artificial intelligence and blockchain.

Sarawak is the fourth location after Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang for MYStartup programme which was launched in February this year, aimed at empowering the startup community ecosystem in Malaysia.

At the event, several MoUs were also signed between Tegas and companies as well as local universities such as Aerodyne Group, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia and Taylor's University.

Also present were Mosti secretary general Datuk Zainal Abidin Abu Hassan, Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh as well as Cradle Fund acting group chief executive officer Norman Matthieu Vanhaecke. - BERNAMA
