Opposition leader PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said there is more poverty, and youths without jobs while the gap between the rich and poor is widening.
"Who is able to deny that there is more poverty now, the gap between the rich and poor is getting bigger and politicians are using the people just to support them for GE15?
"We stand for justice. From the beginning, we are sensitive to the pulse of the people. Farmers, Grab and taxi drivers, the unemployed, women, youth, and the disabled, how come there is no guarantee of justice for them?," he asked.
"The people are (treated) like animals from an outcast group and only used for one time, that is during election," Anwar said during Sidang Nadi Rakyat conference held at Crystal Crown Hotel, here today.
Sidang Nadi Rakyat is a platform for the rakyat to voice out their opinion while leaders listen to the plight of the people affected by the rising cost of living and necessities starting July 1.
The session was attended by other PH leaders, NGOs and the public.
Anwar, the Port Dickson MP said further urged the young to "stand up, save our country and reject corruption."
PH deputy president Mohamad Sabu said he feels "nervous" looking at the current state of affairs.
He said the corruption index has increased and "the (corruption and money laundering) trial of two Umno leaders is confusing. Their income seems to be in the billions but the rakyat are living in poverty."
Mohamad is commonly known as Mat Sabu further questioned if Malaysia was heading towards Sri Lanka with rampant corruption and increasing national debt.
"Do you want Malaysia to be like Sri Lanka? I leave that to you," he said, referring to social and economic unrest and crisis in Sri Lanka.
