KUALA LUMPUR: Well-known director and actor Datuk Hans Isaac demands for answers from the PKR Party Selection Committee (JPP) on the results of Ampang branch level for the party polls which saw him losing to fellow celebrity Altimet after a recount.

Hans said he would be sending a letter to the JPP today and gave them a week for the committee to response with with evidence on several technical issue.

The 51-year old had initially lost the fight for the Ampang Branch Chief post but later won it after a re-election held on June 29.

Hans or his real name Gerald Hans Isaac, however, insisted that he would abide by any decision if the explanation given by the JPP showed that the selection process was done fairly with integrity.

“I will send a letter to JPP for six or seven technical questions and hope they will reply to me with proof.

“If the exact evidence is there and what we have been experiencing these past few weeks is true, I agree with the decision.

"But I feel as a member of the party and the grassroots, and the voters who support me should know the answers on how this thing happens. Because every community vote counts, and they try to vote, not once (elections) but twice.

"So I will wait and see what JPP replies me. I have expected this to happen because for several weeks this matter has been changing (Ampang Branch Chief's victory), " he said when contacted today.

Astro AWANI previously reported that Hans won the post of Ampang Branch Chief after the second election was conducted by obtaining 748 votes, defeating Altimet's nearest challenger by a difference of two votes, namely 746 votes.

Before the second election process was conducted, Daing Muhammad Reduan Bachok defeated Hans and Altimet when he received the highest number of votes at 942 votes.

However, following allegations of ethical violations in the election of the branch, the PKR JPP has set up an investigation panel which later found that Daing Muhammad was involved in "vote buying" activities.

Commenting further, Hans also recounted the chronology of the counting process in the second election, which allegedly saw him win the post of Ampang Branch Chief.

He explained that the victory included the counting of doubtful votes for the first time before other candidates were alleged to have admitted 'lost' even though there were still 50 doubtful votes that had not been counted.

“So we signed (the signature of the decision form), and it was done. (But) 24 hours later that they said they had a technical (issue), forgot to remove the vote from my number, and now Altimet has won.

"So we have to open the remaining 50 votes, and we open again... I won too. Then I heard there was a technical issue to what, and after that I lost. I know yesterday I lost," explained Hans.

Hans once again reiterated his stance and left it entirely to the JPP to submit an explanation on the issue.

As a grassroots, Hans said what was being done was to ensure change could be made in Ampang. - AWANI
