SHAH ALAM - PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he does not take his deputy's apple-polishing remark seriously as unlike Umno PKR does not consider it a violation.

This comes after Rafizi Ramli said there was no need for groups surrounding Anwar to flatter him or defend him from criticism at the party’s congress today.

“I am more inclusive and I avoid unnecessary bickering of internal issues as we have enough forum and platforms to discuss.

“I (also) do not see the statement from Rafizi as a big issue, that is how he is as long as he agrees to work together in the party and to focus on the consensus,” he told the reporters during a press conference at the party’s 16th National Congress today.

He hopes to hold discussions to persuade Rafizi to focus facing the party's enemies and strengthening the party.

After Rafizi won the number two post against Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, there were concerns over Anwar and Rafizi working relationship after speculations that they were not on talking terms.

But today Anwar said Rafizi has a lot of positive traits. “He knows he is no longer the old Rafizi, we are talking about the new Rafizi as a leader that will bear some of my responsibility,” Anwar said.

Over Rafizi's remarks, Anwar said: “The comments made by Rafizi are not a big matter in PKR and it does not mean there is an internal conflict, but in Umno, it is certainly classified as a disciplinary violation but we are not Umno.

He said that PKR practices an ‘open-minded’ culture and is mature in handling internal conflicts within the party.
