Covid-19: Malaysia records 5,683 new cases, eight deaths

SHAH ALAM - Malaysia recorded 5,683 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, a sharp increase from 3,902 infections recorded the day before.

This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases in the country since the pandemic began to 4,635,648.

There were eight deaths recorded yesterday, five of which were brought in dead cases.

This brought the death toll to 35,878 since the pandemic began.

The number of active cases stood at 45,484 with 43,858 patients undergoing home quarantine while 1,531 were hospitalised, 35 of which were in the intensive care unit (ICU) and required ventilator support.

The Health Ministry also recorded a total of 3,337 recoveries yesterday.
