Mandeep Singh and Adam Adli among 30 to be summoned by cops for #Turun

SHAH ALAM - Dang Wangi Police chief ACP Noor Dellhan Yahaya has confirmed 30 individuals involdved in the #Turun protest will be summoned tomorrow and Tuesday.

He, however, did not disclose who these people were aside from the fact that they would be called up to record their statements.

Political activist Mandeep Singh said he was among those who will be called up in a Twitter post.

“Just received a call from IPD Dang Wangi, 29 individuals will be investigated under Section 9(5) Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

“We will discuss with the lawyer for the next process,” he tweeted.

PKR Youth Chief Adam Adli also confirmed with Sinar Daily that he was one of the thirty that had been called to give a statement to the police.

"It's a form of continuous intimidation by the authority to suppress the voices of the people. However, I don't think it will ever work.

"People have been called to the police station for so many times now, almost every week in fact," he said.

Others believed to have been summoned includes Ketari Assemblyman Young Syefura Othman from DAP and #Turun movement committee member Amir Abdul Hadi.

Yesterday, it was reported that the police had opened an investigation paper in connection to the #Turun protest in front of the Sogo shopping mall here today under Section 9 (5) of the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012.

About 100 individuals holding placards and banners had gathered outside of the Sogo shopping centre at about 1.40 pm.

The crowd then was led by the activist, Sevan Doraisamy who attempted to march from the shopping mall at Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman towards Dataran Merdeka.

However, the police formed a human barricade to block the group from marching and the group agreed to dispersed peacefully at about 3 pm.
