SHAH ALAM - Power supply in affected areas has been fully restored after a blackout this afternoon, Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) has said.

In a Facebook post, TNB said the power was restored at 3.02pm, with majority of the areas experiencing power supply within 20 minutes after the outage.

TNB said the outage since 12:39pm was caused by a damaged equipment at the Yong Peng North main inlet substation in Johor, resulting in load shedding of 2.2GW which is 10 per cent of the total supply demand in Peninsular Malaysia.

"We apologise for any inconvenience experienced by users during this supply disruption," it said in a statement.

Several states in Peninsula experienced power outages today.

Power cuts were reported in Klang Valley, Penang, Perak, Kedah and Pahang.
