Traditional healer arrested over patient's death

AMPANG - A traditional medicine practitioner was arrested to aid investigations into the death of a woman in a house at Pandan Perdana here on Wednesday.

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Farouk Eshak said they received a call from a woman who informed that her 41-year-old daughter had died at 6.35pm.

"The victim was found lying down unconscious in the living room of a woman who is a traditional medicine practitioner.

"The victim was pronounced dead by a health officer who attended the case," he said in a statement today.

Farouk said the victim went to the suspect's home last week to seek for traditional treatment.

"Investigations at the location of the incident are still underway and the cause of the incident is still being investigated," he said.

Farouk said following the incident, police had arrested the 51-year-old traditional medicine practitioner at 7.25pm at the home.

"The suspect will be brought to the Ampang Jaya Court on Thursday to attain a remand order to aid the investigations which falls under Section 302 of the Penal Code," he said.
