SHAH ALAM – The Federal Territory Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP), in collaboration with the Malaysian Budi Ikhsan Foundation, distributes 100kg of frozen ‘korban’ meat to the staff of Karangkraf Media Group, today.

Counter Service and Wakalah Deputy General Manager Fahmi Ismail Al Hafiz said the distribution included a total of 500kg of frozen ‘korban’ meat through PPZ-MAIWP for the ‘asnaf’ and those from the B40 group.

However, he explained that the allocation for Karangkraf Group was 100kg for 100 recipients from the B40 group, which consisted of the company’s own staff.

He further said the programme could raise awareness among Malaysians that it was crucial for them to pay for their zakat donations since it would help the underprivileged or those in need, especially with the economic issues many were facing.

“To some extent, this programme can give awareness to the community, organisations and individuals to continue to fulfil their zakat obligations to the PPZ-MAIWP because every cent of the zakat donation that is channelled to the centre will be then transferred to the Regional Islamic Religious Council and distributed to eligible ‘asnaf’.

“Alhamdulillah, in this season, in a situation where living costs are increasing and goods are becoming more expensive, this is an initiative that we implement to help the people, especially the media that always cooperates with PPZ-MAIWP in spreading our zakat da’wah to the public,” he said during the distribution of ‘korban’ meat for the staff held at Kumpulan Media Karangkraf, Shah Alam today.

Fahmi also said that he hoped for this programme to continue from time to time and help strengthen the bond between the PPZ-MAIWP and the media.

Meanwhile, Karangkraf Group Executive Director Akmal Eirfan Mohamed Fauzi talked about the efforts made by the zakat collection centre in order to bond with the media and at the same time show others the nobility of zakat donation.

He also expressed his gratitude for the contribution since it could greatly help the staff, especially from the B40 families.

“Today we handed over the ‘korban’ meat to the staff in need. And I think this is also one of PPZ-MAIWP’s efforts to establish a close relationship with the media.

“We appreciate the contribution from the regional PPZ because to some extent we can help the staff of Karangkraf Media Group, especially those in the B40 group and also show to the people that the act of donating to this cause is very noble.

“The media relationship with PPZ will grow closer after this for sure, insyaAllah,” he added.
