SHAH ALAM - The Generational End Game policy that was proposed to be implemented to create a new generation free from cigarettes shall be applied in the context to fight corruption.

Media Prima Television Network Berhad Executive Producer Ally Iskandar Mohd Mardzi said this was to develop a new generation who were aware that corruption was a big offence and scared to conduct the offence.

“This policy requires a political will or big political determination by the leaders.

“The media will certainly support this matter. We need to create a generational end game for corruption instead of making a plan (to prevent corruption).

“When there is a change of government, the plan would be amended and it would not go anywhere so such commitment from the government is needed and should be mobilised together with the people," he said as a panellist on Kompas Rasuah Busters titled ‘Corruption: The Media Has Done Its Work, Next?’ which was broadcasted live on all Sinar Harian platforms on Wednesday.

Ally Iskandar said the suggestion was voiced out as a measure to prevent corruption in the country.

He said in the previous discussion and report regarding corruption, about 85 per cent questioned why the act happened and only 15 per cent gave recommended or gave suggestions to overcome the problem.

“So, as the next initiative to prevent corruption, the percentage of the suggestion in the media platform needs to be broadened so the effective programmes can be implemented to expose the dangers of corruption to the public.

“That is what we should focus on, and I take the example of the generational end game which may be used in the context of corruption," he said.

Ally Iskandar said the media was also responsible for dealing with corruption issues as they were the drafters of history.

“It is then read by the next generation in the history books. Hence, the media’s responsibility is a very important aspect,” he said.
