KUANTAN - The police have arrested two of five male suspects believed to be involved in an attack on a tahfiz centre in Lipis around Damak Jerantut today.

Lipis district police chief Supt Azli Mohd Noor said the two men, who are in their 30s, had prior criminal records and tested positive for methamphetamine, adding that they had been remanded for four days beginning today.

The five suspects had gone to the tahfiz centre around 5.10pm, where three of them attacked a student and an ustaz, who sustained injuries to his right eye and body, he said.

Investigations revealed that the attack was caused by dissatisfaction over the pricing of fees for food imposed by the tahfiz centre.

The case is being investigated under Section 147 and 448 of the Penal Code, he said, adding that police had determined the identities of the remaining three men and were tracking them down. - BERNAMA
