PADANG TERAP - The door for negotiations with Barisan Nasional (BN) to face the 15th General Election (GE15) is still open for the unity of ummah, said Pas spiritual leader Datuk Hashim Jasin.

"The unity of ummah is not the will of Pas President, Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang or Umno President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi but it is the order and command of Allah.

"There is room for discussions," Hashim said during a press conference here,

However, he said it is up to Umno if they want to slam the door shut on discussions but "Pas is still open".

He was commenting on BN deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan who said yesterday they will be going solo in GE15.

But Hashim said the party still hopes to work together with Umno in GE15 but a clash or a two-corner or a three-corner fight may no longer be unavoidable if they go separate ways.

"I just hope that even if we are ready to accept (Umno), don't backstab us, don't destroy the unity because I like what we have agreed on all this time," he said without elaborating further.

On July 31, Umno vice-president, Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid. had said the proposal to establish Muafakat Nasional (MN) Plus, involving a combination of Umno, Bersatu and Pas was stalled when Perikatan Nasional (PN) was established.

He had said at that time there was indeed a proposal to establish MN Plus and Bersatu, but after PN was registered, it was shelved.
