SHAH ALAM – Learning from the failure in the past general election, Barisan Nasional (BN) now vows to conquer the social media platforms to reach its target audience for the upcoming 15th General Election.

Umno president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said what caused BN to fail in the last election was that they were unable to mobilise the social media platforms.

“We failed to take advantage of the information delivery channels that were quick and easy to gain the confidence of voters against BN.

“This is in opposite with BN’s opponents which had fully manipulated the platform to launch their propaganda and accusations.

“So, this time we say to them ‘no more drama’. Now social media is also BN's arena.

“All Wanita, Pemuda and Puteri BN will fight,” he said in a Facebook post.

Zahid added the party would put up a fight to save the people from sedition and accusations by posting facts and reality.

He further said the social media platforms should be empowered and the conventional methods such as physical meetings and distributing BN pamphlets would still be taken into measure.

“In the upcoming GE15, BN’s opponents will always try to create new propaganda and accusations on social media to spread hatred in the people.

“Hence, every BN’s component should repel the accusations quickly with facts so the negative perception they wanted to narrate can be overcome,” he said.

Zahid said he hoped the BN’s component would understand the new BN’s initiative from the Wanita BN Convention.
