National junior keglers ‘roll’ to silver in Bangkok

KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian junior bowling squad had to settle for silver in the Boys’ Team event at the 21st Asian Junior Bowling Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, today.

The national squad comprising Izz Naqiuddin Putera Islahuddin, Syabil-Azam Syamsul-Azam, Airel Amri Suhaimi and Shaqeem Izwan Teh Shahrul Hafiz Teh amassed 5,240 pinfalls while Hong Kong A topped the standings to take gold with 5,299 pinfalls and Singapore B completed the podium finish as they garnered 5,060 pinfalls for bronze.

Meanwhile, Shaqeem Izwan won bronze for Boys’ All Events category after he scored a total of 4,060 pinfalls.

Taiwanese keggler, Lan Shao-Kang was crowned as the champion with 4,163 pinfalls while Hassan Qasem from Kuwait A won silver with 4,090 pinfalls.

The six-day tournament which kicked off last Sunday (Aug 14) will be held until this Friday (Aug 19). - BERNAMA
