KOTA BHARU - A total of 138 Keluarga Malaysia communities will work together with the Kelantan Information Department (Japen) to jointly brighten up the National Day celebration, which is currently being carried out statewide.

Kelantan Information Department director, Muhd Nor Aswadi Md Nor, said the Merdeka@Komuniti programme is aimed at creating awareness for the people about the National Month celebration, in addition to instilling patriotic spirit and love for the country.

"What we are doing is responding to the suggestion of the Minister of Communications and Multimedia, Tan Sri Annuar Musa, to make the celebration more lively by involving the local communities.

"Therefore, we, as the coordinating agency, are carrying out various activities in collaboration with the state government, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the communities,” he told reporters after the launch of the Semarak Jalur Gemilang programme, in conjunction with the National Month and Malaysia Day celebrations at Wisma Persekutuan, here today.

Earlier, the programme was officiated by the Wisma Persekutuan Welfare and Sports Club chairman, Datuk Dr Zaini Hussin.
