Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week (KLFW) 2022 kicked off its tenth year of revolutionising the local fashion scene with the return of the grand fashion show in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur recently.

Speaking on the first day of KLFW 2022, founder Andrew Tan emphasised that the sole purpose of the annual event is to celebrate local designers and to honour Malaysia’s local brands.

"I’m exhausted but I’m very proud of the platform that we have created and I have always said it’s the only legit and true platform for the Malaysian fashion industry," he said.

Tan believes the five-day event from Aug 17 to 21 is the platform to celebrate Malaysia's home-grown brands and give them the recognition they deserve.

"This is what we do best and this is where our Malaysian home-grown brands are recognised. Every year, the platform continues its journey and its mission for the designers.

"I don’t know if everyone knows why every year KL fashion week is in the month of August. It is because everything is Malaysian-based. We want to align ourselves with Merdeka month," he told Sinar Daily.

This showcase will feature 40 local designers' ready-to-wear collections with names such as Alia Bastamam, Fizi Woo, Rizman Ruzaini, Nurita Harith taking centre stage.
