SHAH ALAM - Young Palestinian women use no weapons, but they attack by standing together to protect their land.

Fellow of the Royal Historical Society United Kingdom (UK) Professor Dr Abd Al-Fattah El-Awaisi said women in Palestine played an active role when it comes to seeking freedom for their state.

Women, he said were the ones who stood against Israeli settlers when the latter attacked the Al-Aqsa mosque.

"When Israeli settlers attack Al-Aqsa mosque, who stood against them? It was not the Palestinian men but the brave Palestinian women.

"They fought with no weapons in their hands but they attacked in a group," he said in an exclusive Fireside Chat interview with Sinar Daily on the Palestinian Conflict Shifting Perceptions.

Al-Fattah said it was the fearless young women who stood against the opposition, but sadly they would be arrested and go through political and gender-based violence.

"They stand on the gate of the mosque and start to do their job by blocking and shouting at the opposition.

"Women in our society, in Palestine struggle, they play a core and essential role for the liberation of the holy land and Palestine," he added.
