SERDANG - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin claims that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob will present the 2023 Budget on Oct 7.

He said he was informed by some members from the Cabinet.

"I was informed by a friend in the Cabinet that the prime minister wants to present the budget.

"Usually, the budget is presented by the finance minister," he said during the closing speech at the PN 2022 Convention and the second PN anniversary celebration at the Serdang Malaysia Agricultural Expo Park (MAEPS) on Saturday.

Yesterday, Law Minister Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar confirmed that next year's budget will be brought forward from the original schedule on Oct 28.

Ismail Sabri later said earlier tabling of the budget was not unusual as former prime minister Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi had done the same.

But Muhyiddin, the Pagoh MP questioned the reason for the earlier budget date.

"It is usually presented at the end of October. Now it is to be presented by the Prime Minister which is on Oct 7.

Why is that so," he asked.

Muhyiddin said it may dissolve the Parliament.

"There is a high possibility that after October 7, there will be no budget debate in the Parliament as the next day the Parliament will be dissolved," he said.
