SHAH ALAM – With the possibility of the 15th General Election (GE15) just around the corner, members of the National Recovery Council (NRC) pose for a picture as this could be the last meeting.

Subang MP Wong Chen posted on his Twitter account this morning showing members of the NRC posed for a candid photo after their meeting at Putrajaya yesterday.

“The mood was a bit strange - a bit jovial with many informal photos being taken,” the post stated.

It also included a remark made by one of their members that this could be the NRC’s last meeting because elections could be held soon.

When contacted by Sinar Daily, Wong said the atmosphere of yesterday’s meeting was fine with a professional photographer present to capture individual formal pictures of the members.

“The assumption (for the photos) is that it was (taken) for the NRC report,” he said.

Wong also told Sinar Daily that since Budget 2023 had been brought forward, there was a possibility of Malaysia having an early election.

However, he said that the NRC did not have any further discussions on the prospects of GE15.

When asked about the remarks made that yesterday could be the NRC’s final meeting, he only said that was a jest on the part of the NRC members but the real possibility of it was not discussed during the meeting.

The NRC conducted meetings on average every once in three weeks.

The council served as an advisory body to the Government where issues on the well-being and comfort of the people were their main aim.
