PUTRAJAYA - The Malaysia #QuranHour 2022 which was held at 1,826 places in Malaysia and one location in Brunei today garners a massive 260.6 million impressions on social media.

Today's campaign also marked the eighth year of the programme after its first establishment in 2013.

The Warisan Ummah Ikhlas Foundation (WUIF) chief executive officer Marhaini Yusoff said the participation for today’s physical event reached 3,000 people, which was a big achievement especially after two years of online events due to the pandemic.

"It was the first physical event after Malaysia #QuranHours had to be held in studio for two years.

“Previously, we also conducted the event after the Movement Control Order (MCO) but we had to limit the participation,” she said.

Mahraini said the event today saw participants from all over the states.

"For today's event, we not only received participants from Selangor or Putrajaya but some of them came from other states as well.

"Frankly speaking, I was moved by the participation as it has been a long time since we could gather and tighten our relationship among Muslims as today," she told Sinar Daily.

Mahraini added the significant impact of this event on the participants was how they implied the Surah Al-Sajdah as a formulation to tackle vanity through prostrate (sujud), charity (sedekah) and patience (sabar) in their lives.

By looking at the participation today, she hoped to see more for the next year where they would prepare another Surah for the next event.

"For this year we collaborated with Islamic Tourism Centre. Hence, we also hoped to collaborate with more organisations for upcoming years," she said.

The Malaysia #QuranHour was held at Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin Mosque, Putrajaya and all hotspot locations held this event simultaneously for one hour from 12 until 1 pm, today.

In addition, the interaction with Al-Quran programme through read, understand and apply was also organised in conjunction with Independence Day.

Surah Al-Sadjah was not only the chosen surah for The Malaysia #QuranHour, but also for the World #QuranHour, Arafah #QuranHour and also World #QuranConvention.
