KUALA LUMPUR – Police have confirmed that they have received a report against PKR Deputy President Rafizi Ramli in regards to the statements made on Mersing MP Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad claiming that his wife was involved in the acquisition of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) project.

Sentul district police chief Assistant Commissioner Beh Eng Lai said his division would summon Rafizi Ramli to record a statement regarding the matter in the near future.

"Police investigation found that the incident happened on Aug 22 at about 12.00 noon.

"The complainant read a post through the rafiziramli.com blog regarding defamation and accusations made by Rafizi which (allegedly) contained inaccurate statements to damage the good name of Latiff," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Beh said the complainant denied the statement made by Rafizi who claimed that the Mersing MP had a second wife who got a defence contract worth tens of millions of ringgit for the acquisition of the LCS project when Latiff held the position of Deputy Minister.

On Tuesday, Sinar Harian reported that a police report was made by the officer of Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Special Functions) Sayed Ahmad Mui'izzuddin Al-Sayed Mohamad against Rafizi.

The report was made following Rafizi's statement which linked Latiff and a woman named Zainab Mohd Salleh, claimed to be Latiff’s second wife who was allegedly involved in the embezzlement of the LCS project.

Following that, Beh said, his division detected two videos related to Rafizi's statement that had been uploaded through his TikTok and Instagram accounts on Aug 25.
