SHAH ALAM - Pengerang MP Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has confirmed that she has resigned

from her position as a special advisor on law and human rights to the prime minister.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement that Azalina sent her resignation letter on Monday.

"The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has accepted her resignation," it said adding that she was no longer attached to the PMO's as she has been given leave from Sept 1 till her last day of work on Sept 30.

"Ismail Sabri expresses his appreciation and thanked her for the services provided throughout her tenure," it said.

Azalina, who is also an Umno supreme council member, recently questioned why the current Attorney-General was not government-friendly.

She had also questioned why the Federal Court rejected former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's bid to postpone proceedings after changing his team of lawyers.
