SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak contributed to the country's economy with many sectors remaining "bullish", said Umno Youth exco Ikmal Hazlan Ikmal Hisham.

However, Najib’s recent court case linked to corruption took a beating, he said.

“Personally for me, he (Najib) did a lot of good work for Malaysians and it was during his time we had the longest bullish economic period, a lot of people and companies made money and the market was good," he told Sinar Daily's Politically Frank.

However, he said it was also crucial to respect the judiciary.

Can Umno take over Kelantan?

Ikmal feels Umno has a chance of taking over the Pas stronghold in the coming general elections.

“Of course, we had always had a chance to win Kelantan. We almost won Kelantan during Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s tenure.

“I think we have a high chance now. Previously Pas was not a part of the federal government but now they are and they can’t say they cannot contribute to Kelantan (economically),” he said.

Ikmal said Kelantan is bough down with water, social issues with facilities and also the infrastructures.

By observing the problems, he said the rakyat could witness that some of the political parties are just talk and promises.

He said, compared to a year period of the current Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri’s government, he indeed had done a lot and Umno was keen doing both walk and talk.
