MUKAH - Residents of Kampung Jemoreng, here, need a community internet centre (PIK) that can benefit about 2,000 local population to enjoy a more stable internet network service.

Its penghulu, Mesaleh@Che Jeni Shahdan, said that with a PIK, it could also serve as a conducive learning place for students in the village.

"The library already exists but there is no internet centre yet, so we are requesting for an internet centre to be built in Kampung Jemoreng as it will facilitate the children in their education.

"Apart from that, this village has a community hall but it is not big enough to accommodate the large population here,” he said when met here.

He said the proposal to build another hall had been presented to the Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier's Office (Integrity and Ombudsman) who is also Jemoreng assemblyman, Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya.

Meanwhile, resident Mohd Rohaizad Sharudin, 24, said the construction of the PIK in the village located in the Matu area will facilitate students who do not have any devices or gadgets to follow education online which are parts of the teaching and learning process today.

He also hoped that the telecommunications companies’ internet network issue in the village would be resolved soon as the residents there were facing problems and had to rely on WiFi services for online communication.

"During the Movement Control Order, residents realised that the internet is essential for those working from home, however, the internet network here is less stable.

"Several villagers have made reports to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to monitor the internet situation here. As a villager, I hope this kind of internet network problem to be fixed soon," he said. - BERNAMA
