KUALA LUMPUR - The Malaysian Kebaya Festival 2022 which will take place on Oct 15 will feature classic and modern kebaya including a Nyonya kebaya which is over a hundred years old.

The organiser Jason Hee said the two-day festival which will be held at the Da Men shopping centre in Subang Jaya is aimed at promoting the country’s rich culture and heritage to attract domestic as well as foreign tourists.

He said the carnival will display kebaya designed by local fashion designers and offer workshops and forums to interested participants.

"We are working with other parties including associations and individuals who are keeping and preserving old kebaya dresses," he said at a press conference today.

He said the carnival is held in conjunction with the Miss Malaysia Kebaya 2022 pageant scheduled to take place on Oct 30 adding that he hoped the event which has the support of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture could educate and remind the people of the country’s unique tradition.
